Can you explain why the onshore wind constraints are so strict? Are you seeing interest in onshore wind from your RFPs?
As stated in
previous Q&A, when build limits are used in the IRP, it’s to reflect real-world constraints and to ensure the model produces practical, implementable results. These limits can represent factors such as supply chain considerations, siting and permitting timelines, interconnection requirements, and the pace at which new resources can realistically be developed and integrated onto the system.
The constraints for onshore wind come down to feasibility and geography. There is currently only one onshore wind project being built in the Commonwealth. The Company’s annual RFPs solicit onshore wind resources, but to-date there have not been any viable project submissions.
