Technology readiness levels (TRLs) provide a useful indication of technical maturity, but they do not fully capture manufacturing readiness or the ability to deploy technologies on a commercial scale. In practice, even technologies with relatively high TRLs can face significant challenges and delays as manufacturers scale production and move toward widespread deployment.
