How does Dominion Energy model the value of excess solar generation that is exported to the market?

The Company's modeling is capable of representing off-system sales when generation exceeds customer demand. If excess generation is available and not needed to serve native load, associated market sale revenues are reflected in the evaluation of the portfolio. However, solar generation is modeled as a must-take resource and is first used to serve customer load.

As discussed in a previous stakeholder Q&A, solar output does not exceed total demand on any given day in the DOM Zone. Therefore, solar generation is generally expected to serve customer load or displace other generation resources before being available for export.
